1. From Las Vegas to Hoover Dam by Car
It doesn’t even take an hour to reach Hoover Dam from the Las Vegas Strip by car. This is the most convenient way to visit the dam. First, take the l-215 east towards the airport, then connect to the l-11 and US 95 South. This will take you to US 93, which leads into Boulder City. Plenty of signs will lead the way once you've reached Boulder City. After that it's a short drive to the visitors center.
2. From Las Vegas to Hoover Dam by Tour
Taking a private tour to Hoover Dam from Las Vegas is another great option. There are a lot of tour guides/groups that offer round-trip transportation from most major Las Vegas resorts. They will pick you up in the morning at your hotel, then it takes around 45 minutes to reach the dam. You can even walk on top of the dam! Be sure to click lots of pictures that will make you the envy of your friends on Instagram.
3. From Las Vegas to Hoover Dam by Rideshare
Taking a Lyft or an Uber is another nice way to get to the Hoover Dam from the Strip. We've found that when using these options it could cost about $40-$50 from Las Vegas to the Dam. If you take a taxi, it may cost up to $100 or more. These prices are per one way trip, not per person. Rideshare will also take around an hour for you to reach the destination.
4. From Las Vegas to Hoover Dam via Bus
Boulder City Express will take you to the Hoover Dam from the Las Vegas Strip. This bus always takes a break in Boulder City, which is a great little stop, the Lake Mead Visitor Center, and the Marina. Aside from this, you can also take the public bus named Henderson and Downtown Express from Las Vegas to Boulder City. The only issue with this option is, it will take you to Boulder City from Las Vegas but not the final ten minutes to the dam itself. From Boulder City, you may need a taxi, private bus or a rideshare to reach your destination.
5. From Las Vegas to Hoover Dam by Helicopter
You'll certainly take in the most breath-taking views via helicopter and there are quite a few tour companies that will get you there. From on high you'll really appreciate the incredible scale of the dam. Most helicopter tours will include a flyover of the dam and Lake Mead. If you don't want to land but just have a nice view from above, the options are open. Some flights will take you to tour the dam from the air only. You can even take a helicopter from the Hoover Dam Lodges heliport. You can fly from there and take a tour of the dam and lake, then be safely returned to the lodge.
