1. Shark Reef Aquarium
This aquarium is home to 100 sharks from 15 various species and more than 2,000 animals, including sea turtles, green sawfish, lionfish,and golden crocodiles. Its most impressive feature is the Shark Tunnel, where you look like you are on the bottom of the ocean on a sunken ship. It also features a small touch tank (for the little ones), giving you a chance to be up close and personal with some of the smaller animals.
2. Flamingo Wildlife Habitat
One of the most popular animal attractions in Vegas is the Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo Hotel. The habitat contains a small island inhabited by hundreds of flamingos and exotic birds. The climate in the habitat is regulated for the animals, while plants and heat lamps are placed to make the birds feel right at home. The waters surrounding the island is home to many fish and turtles. You can view the penguins feeding.
3. The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat
This habitat is located in the Mirage Hotel. There are not only dolphins, but there are white tigers, white lions, panthers, and leopards,all in an amazing natural habitat. The bottlenose dolphins put on a show several times a day that rivals any experience at Sea World. There is also an aquarium located at the Mirage and an erupting volcano out front. This is a must-see attraction. Locals consider the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat the local zoo.
4. The Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park
This is the only zoo and one of the major Las Vegas attractions which witnesses a wide variety of endangered wild cats, apes, and chimpanzees. The extremely low cost of admission and a wide range of rare species make it the most preferred visiting spot.
5. Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary
Since it was established in 1970, Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is home to both domestic and exotic animals. The sanctuary provides a conducive living environment for animals and birds. It also provides opportunities for visitors to learn about the different animals and bird species. Some of the birds you will find here are peacocks,parrots, ostriches, ducks, swans, and many others.
