5 Bold Predictions for the 2021 Las Vegas Raiders' Season

You can take these five Las Vegas Raiders predictions all the way to the bank.

#5 Jon Gruden keeps his job with the Las Vegas Raiders

Jon Gruden is still one of the most controversial coaches in the NFL, but he finally seems to be turning the Las Vegas Raidersaround. This year, he surprised everyone with a 3-0 start. He has also rebuilt his defense with acquisitions like Travis Moehring and Alex Leatherwood.  Now, that doesn't mean there aren't holes to fill, but they are becoming less and less.

Gruden has seemingly taken this team to the next level, and he will definitely keep his job if this kind of momentum lasts.

#4 The Las Vegas Raiders keep Marcus Mariota.

Although some Marcus Mariota fans might want him to be somewhere else, he's doing great with the Las Vegas Raiders. Not only is that evident by his ability to dominate the running game, but also his ability to throw on the run. Furthermore, there aren't many starting opportunities in the league at the moment, making a move unrealistic. Maybe that changes as the 17-week season moves forward, but there's just no reason to move this guy right now.

The Raiders will need him as a backup if Derek Carr goes down.

#3 The Las Raiders will have one of the best running games in the league

The Las Vegas Raiders might be dealing with an early injury to Joshua Jacobs, but that hasn't stopped them from having a pretty dominant running game.  In fact, between Peyton Barber racking up yards in Jacobs's absence and Kenyan Drake also getting key touches, this is going to be a deadly ground game from now on. Things will get even better when Jacobs finally returns from his injury.

#2 Las Vegas Raiders make the playoffs

It's no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders are off to a hot start this 2021 season, but how long will it last?  How much longer can Derek Carr, Daniel Carlson, and Joshua Jacobs carry the team? Keep in mind that this is the team that lost six of their last eight games last season, losing a spot in the playoffs as a result. The same team that knocked off the Kansas City Chiefs for the first time since their Super Bowl 54 victory but still missed out on a postseason spot.

With that being said, the Raiders are in a much better place this year. Their defense is holding up better than ever before and could be a dangerous threat as the season continues. As for the offense, Derek Carr has a plethora of weapons who can score on any given drive. This is a completely different team, and they have a good chance of a deep playoff run if things continue like this.

#1 Derek Carr wins MVP

Your talent can only go unappreciated for so long before you finally get the recognition you deserve, and it seems like Derek Carr is reaching that threshold. The veteran quarterback is already the leading passer in the league, which is only one of his many accomplishments so far this season.  He currently stands with a 64.7 completion rating, 1203 passing yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions, and an overall QBR of 101.4 in the first three games of the season.

While Carr does have a long way to go before the MVP conversation even becomes clear, he is certainly making a case for himself to be in that discussion.
