1. ALEX BOWMAN MARTIN TRUEX JR KYLE BUSCH CRASH - 2021 YELLAWOOD 500 NASCAR CUP SERIES AT TALLADEGA
Las Vegas native Kyle Busch might have gotten caught up in an early accident during last Monday's playoff race at Talladega Super Speedway but was able to recover enough to finish nine points above the cut line for the next round of the playoffs. Busch would go on to finish 27th when the race was shortened due to rain.
2. Derek Carr throws a 51-yard BOMB pass to Henry Ruggs III | Raiders vs Chargers
The Las Vegas Raiders were finally starting to change the tide in Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers and very much looked on the verge of a comeback. Derek Carr must have felt it too, which resulted in him throwing a 51-yard bomb to Henry Ruggs III that even put them in Chargers territory. This served as a last gasp for the previously undefeated Raiders, and they would go three and out during the following plays. Lack of options forced them to try for a field goal, but Daniel Carlson wasn't able to get through from 41 yards deep.
3. NHL Pre-Season Highlights | Kings vs Golden Knights – October 1st, 2021
Laurent Brossoit is looking to make a name for himself as the backup goalie for the Las Vegas Golden Knights and is already doing a great job. In fact, between being 2-2 as a starter during the preseason, and shutting out the Los Angeles Kings 4-0, Brossoit looks to be a pretty serviceable backup. Maybe not on the same level as Marc-Andre Fleury was, but it seems like he has an opportunity to pull off great things in the coming years. His shutout was the first step though.
4. LAS VEGAS ACES vs. PHOENIX MERCURY | FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | October 6, 2021
The Las Vegas Aces won the opening game of their series against the Phoenix Mercury and looked to be a prime contender for the WNBA title. Unfortunately for the Aces, though, they would go on to drop back-to-back games to the Mercury in what was a total whooping. While Sin City's favorite WNBA basketball team might have been on the ropes after games two and three, they did respond with a 93-76 victory to tie the series at two.
And how they accomplished this was even more amazing. For example, Kelsey Plum and Chelsea Grey both put up 20 points during the contest while A'ja Wilson dominated the backboard with 12 total rebounds. Those weren't the only players putting in the work, though, as Jackie Young and Kiah Stokes put up a combined nine rebounds of their own to help the Aces.
Sadly, this kind of effort did not continue, and the Aces were ultimately knocked out of the playoffs.
5. Derek Carr touchdown to Hunter Renfrow for the first points on Monday night football Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Raiders needed a spark on offense heading into the second half of their matchup against the Chargers and found it in Derek Carr on the opening drive of the third quarter. Not only did Carr not miss a single throw during the entire march down the field, but he also connected with Hunter Renfrow for a ten-yard touchdown and their first points of the evening. Of course, it wouldn't be enough to put them back in the game, but it was at least a sign of life.
Keep in mind that the Chargers are one of the best teams in the league and served as the Raider's first real test against a playoff team. Now, they didn't win and fell two touchdowns short of forcing overtime, but they showed so much improvement in that second half. Not just on offense, but defense as well. The Chargers had a noticeably hard time moving the ball during the second half of the game and were even forced to rely on their ground game.
