5 Things Las Vegas Sports Fans Can Feel Good About

Despite myriad controversies, disappointing performances, and an ever-changing landscape, Las Vegas sports fans still have a few things to feel good about

#5 Kurt Busch has a two-year deal with 23XI Racing

Was Kurt Busch’s  NASCAR career coming to an end?

That was the question that many fans asked about the Las Vegas native heading into the 2021 season, and those sentiments only intensified when Chip Ganassi Racing announced they were selling their team to Trackhouse Racing. This led many to believe that Busch was finally going to hang up his helmet after a 20-year career, but the wily veteran teased that he still had big plans to announce later in the year.

Fortunately for Busch and his diehard fanbase, he eventually announced that he signed a two-year deal with 23XI Racing to drive their second car. This gives Busch a great chance to compete for a championship again in the twilight of his career while also helping move the relatively new racing team forward. Busch will also be a great mentor for teammate Bubba Wallace Jr, who could probably learn a lot from the former Cup Series Champion.

#4 Jack Eichel is with the Las Vegas Golden Knights

It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Golden Knights will likely win a championship in the next few years, and Jack Eichel will be a huge part of that happening. The Golden Knights acquired Eichel from the Buffalo Sabres late last year after an injury, and while there is still a long recovery road ahead before he can step onto the ice, the wait might be worth it. Eichel could be a game-changer when he finally recovers from his injury.

#3 WWE will host Money in the Bank in Las Vegas

When WWE announced that the Summerslam pay-per-view would be coming to Las Vegas in 2021, it opened the door for the company to come to Vegas more often. Now, the city has received hosting honors for the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in 2022.

Money in the Bank has always been about high risk and high reward, which is why Las Vegas is the perfect backdrop. There’s a lot WWE can do here, and they would be wise to consider their options. The pay-per-view is set to take place on July 2nd of 2022 at Allegiant Stadium.

#2 Becky Hammon is now the Las Vegas Aces' head coach

Progress is always positive, and that's one of the many reasons that hiring Becky Hammon as the new Las Vegas Aces' head coach is such a  big deal. She will likely be a key piece in the Aces finally winning a championship.

Hammon was originally considered for NBA teams but ultimately was passed over for lack of experience.

#1 Rich Bissacia and the Las Vegas Raiders thrived in 2021

While the Las Vegas Raiders' season came to an unfortunate end Saturday against the Cincinnati Bengals, the team deserves all the credit in the world for what they were able to accomplish. In fact, between  Rich Bissacia bringing the team to a 7-5 record as head coach and helping them to their first playoff berth in six years, it's safe to say that this team really went the distance. The Raiders deserve all the credit in the world for what they accomplished in 2021. They defied the odds and did what everyone thought was impossible

Keep in mind that this is a team that started the season off 3-0, before spiraling out of control thanks to the Jon Gruden scandal and a defense that never really gelled. Bisaccia took over the reins as interim head coach in week seven and even lead them to a victory in his first game. From there, he steered the team through controversy after controversy all the way to the playoffs.
