DEF CON is one of the oldest, largest, and most significant hacker conventions in the world. What started out as a farewell party has turned into an annual gathering of more than 30,000 thousand individuals ranging from professionals of the computer security industry, students, security researchers, amateur hackers, to federal government employees ( in 2012 the director of the National Security Agency gave the keynote speech).
