One of the big winners of the night was Doja Cat, presented with a total of four awards for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Female Artist, Top R&B Album, and Top Viral Song. 

Other awards presented on-air included: Megan Thee Stallion for Top Rap Female Artist, Morgan Wallen for Top Country Male Artist, and Dan + Shay for Top Country Duo/Group. Glass Animals took home two awards, one for Top Rock Artists and another, the Pepsi Mic Drop Moment, for their song “Heat Wave.” 

Previous Icon Award winner Janet Jackson presented Mary J. Blige with this year’s Icon Award. Both women were given standing ovations by the crowd.

As usual, the Billboard Music Awards were lively, full of live music and celebrities.
