AFAN AIDS WALK Signals the Return of Spring

Community service organization announces its early-2025 fundraiser activities...

The current weather report might suggest otherwise, but spring will soon be in the air. And so it goes that AFAN (AID for AIDS of Nevada) will be holding its 35th Annual AIDS WALK Las Vegas in less than two months. The fun-filled fundraiser, which moved to Las Vegas Ballpark last year, is set to take place on Sunday, April 27th.

"Start or join a team, set your goal, and fundraise using our easy peer-to-peer system. Walk solo or gather your friends & family, dogs too! Make a difference in the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada! Register now at www.afanlv.org."

As always, comedic magicians Penn and Teller will serve as Grand Marshals...for an incredible 24th consecutive year. They'll be joined by a large collection of entertainers, sports figures, and other celebrities. Past participants have included members of Chippendales, the cast of VEGAS! The Show, Skye Dee Miles, Tina Turner tribute artist Larry Edwards, and burlesque star Melody Sweets. "Join AFAN and the community as they take steps toward improving the lives of those impacted by HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada. Proceeds from the walk will benefit AFAN’s client support service programs, including case management, nutrition counseling, transportation assistance, mental health services, and HIV testing."

To register, AFAN asks for a suggested donation of $30 for adults and $15 for youth. Dogs are welcome to join the walk, but attendees bringing pets must complete a waiver, which is available to download here. For more information or to register, visit afanlv.org.

All participants must complete an event waiver before walking. Please print and fill it out in advance (available here). AFAN will also supply printed copies at the check-in location. For everyone's safety, guests will be subject to security screening before entering the Las Vegas Ballpark, along with an inspection of all carry-in items.

No word yet on whether the sexy Studs and Suds Carwash fundraiser (above) will return to whet appetites before AFAN AIDS WALK. We'll update this article when we learn either way. But in the meantime, another pre-event fundraiser is coming to a very popular neighborhood bar.

THE GARAGE is a friendly auto shop-themed sports pub a few minutes east of the Strip. It consistently wins our VEGAS 411 "Favorite Neighborhood Bar" Award, year after year. Great prices, generously-sized cocktails, excellent food, and the best service you could hope for...all in one convenient location. On March 15th, The Garage will host "Drink For a Cause". All bar sales between the hours of 8 pm and 11 pm will benefit AFAN's AIDS WALK. So gather your friends, have the Uber/Lyft apps handy, and celebrate whatever you please to benefit this worthwhile charity. The Garage is located at 1487 E. Flamingo Avenue. Parking is free; there is never a cover charge.
