From DiscoShow to ABSINTHE - A Spiegelworld Evening

Join 'Vegas Unfiltered' for an immersive night of food, drinks, live shows, and more...Spiegelworld style...

One of the best ways to immerse oneself in the "Vegas experience" is to experience Spiegelworld. Ross Mollison's empire of entertainment, dining, cocktails, nightlife, and wacko moments is like nothing else. VEGAS 411 spent an entire evening doing the Spiegelworld thing, and you're there with us.

DiscoShow at Linq Hotel

We started the evening with a drink at 99 Prince, a time-warp lounge that resembles a 1970s subway platform, complete with a newsstand (bar) and phone booth. The next stop was Glitter Loft, an authentic recreation of a warehouse-style discoteque. A DJ spins dance classics on vintage vinyl as dancers and roller skaters hype the crowd. [embed]https://youtu.be/73cpguPGBJI[/embed] The main performance at DiscoShow has been tweaked since our last visit. A new entrance leads guests into a massive, darkened room, where a vintage TV plays in the far corner. On it, the origins of disco beats are explained. The screen goes dark, then blips of light sprinkle the floors and walls before exploding into a full-on dance club. Very effective. New characters have been added, dialogue has been streamlined, and a downer sequence on the death of Disco has been tightened. This version of the show was unveiled only two weeks prior, so lighting and positioning may need further refinement. Even so, DiscoShow is a liberating, exhilarating joy. GREEN FAIRY GARDEN at Absinthe

The excitement of DiscoShow can work up an appetite. Unfortunately, this writer is not a fan of its tie-in restaurant Diner Ross (see my review here). The restaurant was recently rebranded as Diner Ross Steakhouse and received a desperately needed new menu. Perhaps we'll revisit at another time, but burgers were on the mind. So, we took a two-block stroll to Green Fairy Garden at Absinthe. Like DiscoShow's 99 Prince and Glitter Loft, you don't need a ticket to enjoy the music, food, and fun at Green Fairy Garden. The space is limited to adults once the sun goes down. So leave the rugrats at home and work your way through the crowd to NO PANTS, a burger truck from Heaven. NO PANTS is unquestionably this writer's favorite burger in the city. Two short-rib blend patties served on a pretzel bun with American cheese, grilled onions, mustard, pickles, and a special sauce, it's nothing short of incredible. Add a side of crunchy Star Tots, and you'll be thrilled and refueled in no time. To escape the heat, we ventured into Pier 17 Yacht Club, the boating-themed speakeasy we told you about here. It's a great place to escape the heat and noise, have a cocktail, and chat with the Pier's Captain (bartender). The smell of popcorn and exit chatter from ABSINTHE attendees led us into temptation, so we kindly accepted tickets to the final performance of the evening. ABSINTHE is the most-recommended show in Las Vegas. You haven't experienced Sin City entertainment until you've been inside the world-famous tent. Head on over to the official Spiegelworld website to plan your experience. Tell them VEGAS 411 sent you.
