Mark Shunock's charitable production has raised hundreds of thousands for community non-profits.
"Let's put on a show and raise $10,000.00 in ninety minutes!". That's the simple but electrifying concept behind MONDAYS DARK. The curiously named initiative/foundation/production takes place on alternate Mondays, the day of the week when many resident shows are "dark" (closed). This allows top-notch entertainers the opportunity to offer their talents to worthy causes.
On Monday, December 11, MONDAYS DARK will hold its annual year-end wrap-up. Representatives from two dozen charities will gather, along with entertainers, supporters, and members of the Las Vegas community, for an evening of song, dance, humor, amazement, and new memories.
Along with live entertainment, cocktails and food will be supplied by some of Sin City's finest restaurants and bars. As with each bi-weekly event (but on a much larger scale), a silent auction will offer a wide array of gift baskets, show tickets, and memorabilia for bidding.
Golden Knight's man-on-the-mic Mark Shunock created the concept for MONDAYS DARK with his wife Cheryl Daro. After relocating here over a decade ago, they fell in love with the giving spirit of Las Vegas and wanted to be a part of it. The slogan of "Let's raise $10K in 90 minutes" was born.
Over the years, Mark and Cheryl's brainchild has blossomed into a beating heart that never stops. So far it's raised over $1.8 million. During the pandemic, MONDAYS DARK shifted gears to help its own. The organization hosted a massive telethon to benefit out-of-work entertainers. Jerry Lewis would have been proud.
The 10-Year Gala will be held this year at The Pearl Theater of Palms Hotel Casino. In the ten days leading up to the party, the official Mondays Dark Facebook Page will post a list of fun facts, trivia, and statistics. You can follow along by clicking this link.
