'ELVIS and the Naked Gun' - A PhotoDump RoundUp

Our latest VEGAS 411 PhotoDump RoundUp visits the epic ELVIS 1969 Live Concert and a screening/podcast of the new Naked Gun film...

Despite operating under its current name since 2014, Westgate Las Vegas is still referred to by many as "the Las Vegas Hilton." Two of its best-remembered legacies are the Star Trek Experience and being home to Elvis Presley's record-breaking residency.

Westgate wisely capitalizes on its history with Elvis, from his statue and memorabilia displays to its production of "The King Comes Home." Produced by Doug and Jackie Miranda of DDM Productions, "The King Comes Home" earns rave reviews and welcomes fans both old and new. Earlier this month, the Mirandas and Guy Windsor spearheaded a major Elvis event that rocked the house all night long. ELVIS 1969 Live Concert was an authentic recreation of The King's iconic return to the stage after an eight-year hiatus. The fact that the celebration and performance were held in the residency's original location made the evening even more incredible. [embed]https://youtu.be/1gQB40NCmV0[/embed]

THE KING COMES HOME offered free performances in Westgate Cabaret

Thousands of fans converged on the Westgate to experience ELVIS 1969. The casino floor's International Bar offered nonstop tribute performances. The retractable walls of Westgate Cabaret were opened at 9 pm, allowing free access to The King Comes Home.

Then it was time for the main attraction. Lines to the International Theater extended toward the Superbook betting area for two performances of the ticketed main event: ELVIS 1969 LIVE - The King Returns. Both shows were attended at near-capacity.

"Travis Powell is one of the most authentic and compelling Elvis tribute artists in the world. With nine back-up singers and an eight-piece band (replicating the original concert), the cast will deliver the exact setlist that rocked the International Theater in 1969, recreating the electrifying energy that cemented Elvis as the ultimate Las Vegas headliner."

Doug Miranda suggested that the wildly successful event was probably the first in an ongoing series at the historic Westgate Las Vegas. We at VEGAS 411 will let you know if and when that happens. Congratulations to everyone involved.

THE NAKED GUN at Downtown Cinemas

Elvis wasn't the only familiar name "back in the building" this week. Bumbling "Detective Frank Drebin" of the Police Squad TV series apparently had a son, and actor Liam Neeson portrays him in a revival of THE NAKED GUN spinoff films. David Rosen's PIECING IT TOGETHER Podcast is an opportunity for film experts and fans to discuss a brand new title with a paying audience. A rotating guest panel shares theories on other movies that may have influenced the one they just viewed. You can learn about upcoming Piecing It Together podcasts and register for free tickets to a brand-new film by heading here. Discover what's playing at Downtown Cinemas by following this link. And we'll have another new PhotoDump RoundUp at VEGAS 411 before you can say "Thank you very much."
