Silverton Casino to Host 'BENEFIT OF LOVE' for AGT's Michael Grimm

Las Vegas entertainers will gather on July 9th to provide assistance for the ailing Season Five winner.

Out of the many things I've learned as a resident of Las Vegas, it's that our community is unparalleled when it comes to humanitarian and animal/humane aid. The #VegasStrong hashtag was born out of a horrific 2017 tragedy, yet still resonates today. On Sunday, July 9th, we'll once again witness an outpouring of love, support, and donations. This time it's for beloved entertainer Michael Grimm through MICHAEL GRIMM: The Benefit of Love. [embed]https://youtu.be/B8LAEPzp4uQ[/embed] Michael's wife Lucie Grimm has kept his fans updated on his situation, which is mystifying medical professionals. Hospitalized since Memorial Day weekend, Michael has been in intensive care and on a respirator much of the time. Not much is known about his diagnosis or prognosis, but bills for his tests and continued care are mounting exponentially.

He’s got to go under vocal cord repair, from the time being on the ventilator, and get all his organs back up and all his muscles working again, mentally, he needs to come back from this and return to a state of health. One might expect an America's Got Talent champion to enjoy years of luxury from their winnings, but that is rarely the reality. Exhibiting a heartwarming generosity, Grimm dedicated a large portion of his prize money to replace the home of his grandparents, who lost theirs to Hurricane Katrina.

Michael and Lucie relocated to Henderson, outside of Las Vegas, in 2016. Friends know that they live a relatively conservative lifestyle, and Michael prefers to remain low-key. Shy by nature, his performances are often inside intimate venues like Piazza Lounge at Tuscany Resort, where admission is free. It's a passion for music that keeps Michael Grimm going. That's especially noteworthy in post-pandemic Las Vegas, where entertainers at all levels struggle to make a living. See our VEGAS 411 coverage of that infuriating situation here. I had the pleasure of sharing a booth last August at South Point Showroom with Michael and Lucie. The event was "Singing With The Big Bands" featuring Mark O'Toole (Mark O'Toole Variety Show). Michael was his usual quiet self, enjoying O'Toole's unmistakable vintage Vegas stylings as only a fellow singer can.

Now O'Toole is organizing a benefit for his dear friend. He has gathered numerous talented individuals to partake in a two-part gala. The first portion of the show will be presented as a Michael Grimm concert, with his band under the musical direction of Bill Zappia. Guest performers will provide the vocals. The second half of the show will feature guest acts from across the Vegas entertainment landscape. The following are scheduled to appear at press time:

Michael Grimm: The Benefit of Love will be held at Silverton Casino's VEIL PAVILLION on July 9th beginning at 4 pm. Doors open at 3 pm and seats are first-come, first-serve.
