The Mystery of NICK BEYELER - Part One

The Mystery of NICK BEYELER - Part One

Did Spiegelworld's mystery man strike a deal with the Devil? VEGAS 411 sifts through the clues...

He moves like an action movie star and speaks like a poet. He's performed globally for decades but hasn't aged a day. His artistic gifts have been enjoyed by thousands (perhaps millions), but his life is a mystery. Nick Beyeler is a puzzling enigma rarely seen in the entertainment world. VEGAS 411 sits down with the handsome Spiegelworld star to seek much-needed answers. Who is this guy? The vaudeville-style ABSINTHE is considered by many to be the best show in town. An upstart challenger when it arrived in 2011, the Spiegelworld production dared to take on Cirque du Soleil with its signature combination of bold acrobatics and bawdy humor. ABSINTHE was originally planned for the long-delayed Fontainebleau Resort. Instead, it opened outside of Caesars Palace as a limited-time experience. During its run, ABSINTHE has survived a show-crushing pandemic and witnessed the demise of Cirque's The Beatles LOVE, ZARKANA, Viva Elvis, R.U.N, Zumanity, and Criss Angel BELIEVE. These days it performs twice nightly, with three shows on weekends. How's that for success? This writer has been an ABSINTHE fan since its humble beginnings in a temporary tent. The courtyard was filled with oddball works of art, antiques, oversized games like cornhole, and other curiosities. The show was so unknown that costumed hawkers lured visitors from the sidewalks with $20 coupons. Now it's the city's hottest ticket. Despite having regularly attended through the years, I'd never seen Nick Beyeler's fan-favorite act. A one-of-a-kind artistic feat, Beyeler's Aerial Tube performance has been known to elicit a gamut of reactions. You may not grasp what you've just witnessed, but one thing's for sure...you won't experience it anywhere else but Las Vegas.

I first met Nick at a preview of Spiegelworld's new DiscoShow (review here). During a pre-performance party, the handsome multi-hyphenate stood out in a crowd of hundreds. I had no idea who Nick was or his profession, yet his piercing energy and nuclear-powered smile made him inescapable. I realized on the spot that this man had a story worth telling.

"Nick Beyeler is a show director with an eye for edgy visuals, breathtaking aerial choreography, and unique concepts. The former martial artist has a background in contemporary dance and physical acting. He coached lead actor Aamir Khan and performed as his stunt double in Bollywood's biggest action movie Dhoom3." - NickBeyeler.com

After introducing myself as a writer for VEGAS 411, Mr. Beyeler informed me that he was a longtime performer with ABSINTHE. He had also become part of the cast in DiscoShow. His background includes ballet, martial arts, competitive sports, and much more.

"As a visual artist with a corporate past in graphic design, 3D and virtual reality software skills, Nick is commissioned to develop crisp storyboards showcasing concepts. He's a passionate scuba diver, paints large-scale canvases, and creates video games."

"Nick's work is characterized by a unique ability to engineer imagination, creating experiences that are both visually captivating and functionally innovative, featured globally in shows like “Absinthe” in Las Vegas, “Life” in Australia, and “Lío” in Ibiza."

A native of the Bern, Switzerland region, Nick agreed on the spot to an interview for our site. Spiegelworld creator Ross Mollison (above) was within earshot and gave his blessing (I suspected he might). Before our meeting could be arranged, I'd learn a great deal about this amazing individual.

"The Las Vegas-based entertainer is a 2015 Swiss Award Winner for Achievement in Showbusiness. He's an accomplished visionary in multimedia productions and corporate event designs. Nick’s diverse career highlights landmark projects such as the Olympic Summer Games, global product launches, numerous corporate events, and multiple World Arena tours including Cirque Du Soleil’s “Toruk” by James Cameron."
