Urban Death, Larry '2 Tons' Murry, Zoltan Kaszas, and Alice Cooper - a PhotoDump RoundUp
Comedians, scary movies, and a show premiere join a memorial service that brought out the love...

THE WAKE at The Beverly Theater
"What's your favorite scary movie?" That line from 1996's SCREAM is synonymous with horror films. Last week, local celebs joined VEGAS 411 for The Wake, an "open casket viewing of haunted cinema" at The Beverly Theater. They included producer Alex Schechter (ROUGE), Kevin Sucher (The Docksiders), and Branden Powers (the new Pachi-Pachi, which we'll visit soon).

Halloween III - Season of the Witch was screened this particular evening. Misunderstood upon release, the standalone story is the brainchild of John Carpenter, who never intended "Michael Myers" to be an ongoing antagonist. This entry was initially met with boos, but has since become a seasonal must-watch.
The Wake Halloween movie series will continue throughout October. Visit the Beverly Theater website for titles and showtimes.
The Beverly Theater is located at 515 S 6th Street in downtown Las Vegas. Ample on-street parking is available.
PIECING IT TOGETHER Podcast at Downtown Cinemas
Just a few blocks from The Beverly Theater, movie geeks of all kinds head to Downtown Cinemas. The sparkly multiplex offers first-run films, luxury seating, wine, beer, canned cocktails, and free parking. It's just a few minutes from Fremont Street, too.
David Rosen's PIECING IT TOGETHER Podcast broadcasts most of its episodes from Downtown Cinemas. Last week, yours truly was on a panel that included filmmakers Nic Patrick and Johnny Molinaro (VEGAS TRAFFIC). The film being analyzed was TRON ARES, a long-delayed third entry in Disney's futuristic series.Host David Rosen (far left), myself, Johnny Molinaro, and Nic Patrick

URBAN DEATH at Vegas Theatre Company
Friday, October 10th, was a wet one. Thunderstorms caused flooding throughout the valley, and Downtown's annual Pride Parade was canceled. The streets may have been empty, but at Vegas Theatre Company, freakshow enthusiasts arrived for a chilling debut.
URBAN DEATH VEGAS is the Sin City interpretation of an attraction/production that's been around for twenty years. Its home base is Zombie Joe's Underground Theater in Hollywood. URBAN DEATH spread its reach to the Arts District with an official debut on October 10th, and VEGAS 411 was there.
Photography was prohibited during the performance, but we snapped a few pics before and after the show. Click here for a full review by guest columnist Daavid Hawkins.

MEMORIAL for Larry "2 Tons" Murry
On October 10th, friends, family, and colleagues gathered at the Pegasus Showroom on East Harmon Avenue to remember Larry "2 Tons" Murry. The beloved deejay was known for his warmth, making everyone feel like part of the community. Mr. Murry passed on September 18. 2025.
A message from Mr. Murry's family:
"Larry was more than just a friend—he was a brother, a father, and a light in every room he entered. Many knew him for his music, his laughter, and the way he made everyone feel like family. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled."
"We are asking for donations of any size to help cover funeral and burial expenses. Your generosity will allow us to celebrate Larry’s life in the way he truly deserves and provide comfort to his loved ones in this time of grief."

Comedian Zoltan Kaszas at WISEGUYS TOWN SQUARE
Nationally touring headliner comedians almost always make a stop or two in Sin City. Unfortunately, when they reach the levels of Matt Rife, ticket prices can hit hundreds of dollars. It was pleasing to discover that hysterical Zoltan Kaszas was scheduled for three shows at Wiseguys Comedy at Town Square this past weekend. And get this...all seats were only $32.50 inclusive.
Unfortunately, cameras were prohibited during the set, which included host Jarrett Seegmiller and riotous Jason Lawhead as Zoltan's opening act. Both slayed the capacity crowd. A special shout-out to Staceyy Robinson (you know why, my friend).
